Social Emotional Learning

All students participate in weekly classes with our full-time school counselor, which are designed with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) platforms to increase students’ school success, develop effective problem-solving and social skills. By promoting social-emotional competence and self-regulation, students are better able to focus on their academics, faith, and relationships.

SEL evidence-based platforms like Second Step, as well as supportive materials about Kindness, Bullying Prevention, Mindfulness, and Growth Mindset are used to help strengthen students’ ability to learn, solve problems and manage emotions, while empathizing with others.

Our counselor provides individual and group check-ins and hosts a “Jr. High Hangout” during recess times. Her goal for all students is academic success while building the tools necessary for healthy relationships and a commitment to love oneself.
